Windows 7 Product Activation Error Code 0x80072F8F
After succesfully installing and using Windows 7 Professional for about two weeks, I decided that it was time to activate it. I opened the System properties from the Control Panel and clicked on the link near the bottom of the window to activate it. I then selected the option to activate Windows 7 online.

After a short time I was greeted with the following error.

A problem occurred when Windows tried to activate. Error Code 0x80072F8F.

I just happened to check the clock in the Windows 7 Systray and noticed that both the time and date were wrong. For some reason my clock was 5 months and 1 hour fast. I’m not sure when that happened or for what reason, but I corrected it and tried activating Windows again. This time it worked and Windows is now activated.
